Thaat creepy night !! 😨

Today I am going to share with you all a creepy incident that I experienced a few years ago.

We visited Italy and Switzerland 3 years back. I will never forget that trip, we had a really good time in Italy, Switzerland was so magical and that night in Florence [ a city in Italy] was one of the creepiest that I have ever experienced!  

Our first destination in Italy was Rome and as soon as we arrived at Rome, the first thing that was told to us was 'Beware of pickpockets '.Italy is one such country where pickpocketing and theft is a very common crime.

We had 3 nights in Florence and the very first day was when this happened! We reached Florence around noon and we had to wait for some time in front of the apartment that we were staying in as the caretaker of the apartment was late. We took some rest and by the evening we decided to explore the beautiful city. It was around 9pm and we were standing in the middle of a street. That is when we noticed two people waving at us and calling out to us. We went near their car, they showed us a card which said POLICE. They told us that they were cops and that they wanted to see our passports. This is one thing that we were told when we reached Italy. There are some people who might say that they are from the police and that they need to verify your identity, they want to see your passport and if you tell them that you don't have your passports with you at that moment, they will charge you. So we knew this but we weren't sure whether they are scammers and we did not know what to do. My father told them that he had the copies of the passports but suddenly they said that it was okay and hastily drove away. We were totally confused, why would they drive away? We then noticed two cops on the other side of the street and that is when we understood the reason the scammers drove away 😂 !! We were relieved and continued walking to our apartment. 

When we reached the next street, I noticed a car parked near a shop and I immediately told my father that it was their car. My father with all hopes told me that the car wouldn't obviously be theirs! We had to walk past the car and when we did, the people inside the car were screaming 'stop' and they were the same scammers! We started to walk very fast while they were chasing us in their car. I was literally shivering and crying holding on to my father. My mother and my siblings were walking in front of us, my mother then noticed a restaurant that was starting to close, she went inside and told them about the duo chasing us. They said that it was okay and that it was totally common in the city! They told us that it was not safe to roam around in the city past 9. We made it to our apartment but I was still not okay. I had my favorite Turkish shawarma but I did not eat it that day as I was freaking out ! My father was busy looking for reviews and suggestions and at the same time he was trying to calm us down , my mother was consoling us while she was freaking out inside and literally shivering! Both my siblings were crying and so was I 😂

From the very next day, we made sure that we were back by 9. We also developed a pattern in which we would get out of the car. My father would get out first followed by the rest of us. While my father was paying the cab , we would take the bags inside the apartment. We would then get inside the apartment and my father would come inside and lock the door before the cab was gone !! I can read this now, laughing but during that time I was dead inside!
